facebook iphone

Joe Hewitt, lead engineer for the Facebook iPhone app, announced today that a new Facebook app that will run on iPhone 3.0 software is 98% complete.

Hewitt says there will be an addition of fifteen features, but  Push Notifications is not one of them:

“The one feature that everyone is asking for, Push Notifications, is in development but it won’t make it into 3.0. You can expect it in a 3.1 update later this summer.”

Among the fifteen new features announced are the abilities to:

  • create new photo albums
  • upload photos to any album
  • call or text people from the Friends page

You can view all of the new features in his post here.

Visually speaking, the biggest improvement is to the home screen (pictured on the right).  The new home screen includes Pages, Events and Notifications listed across the bottom.

For more info: visit iPhone’s Notes for the entire list of new features and additional pictures.
